How often should I get my tank pumped?

A general rule is to have your tank pumped every 3-4 years. There are factors that can affect your schedule like how big your tank is, the number of people living in the house, how old your tank is and the weather. We can set up a maintenance schedule for you based on all these factors after your first pumping.

What is my septic system?

When most people think about septic systems, they think about their septic tank. However, your septic system is made up of a lot more than just your tank. Your septic system includes the drains in all of your sinks, your toilets, showers, and bathtubs. It also includes the pipes attached to these drains, responsible for transporting waste into your septic tank. After your pipes, of course, is your tank. Your drain field, located in your yard, is also part of your septic system. All of these elements work together to take, transport, dispose of, and treat the waste in your home.

How do I keep my septic system healthy?

If you have a septic system you should only flush human waste and toilet paper. Pet waste, grease from foods in your kitchen, ALL feminine hygiene products and even flushable wipes can interfere with your bacteria balance in your tank, affecting its ability to properly break down waste. Do not use your toilet as a garbage disposal and do not pour grease down the drain.
Don't overload the system by a leak in your sink or toilet and maximize your wash loads from the dishwasher and washing machine.

What are the signs that my septic tank is full?

If your washing machine or toilet starts to become sluggish. or if you are having trouble flushing your toilet, you should immediately check your septic tank system. Another unfortunate sign that your tank is blocked and needs emptying is when it is overflowing into the surrounding surface. You will know because it will smell. If you spot such an issue, you will need to call in the experts immediately as such a problem could prove quite costly.

How do I find my septic tank lid?

It would be a good idea to have a map and description of the location of your septic system. If you do not have this information, it can be obtained from your local health department.
We also have an electronic septic tank locator that can tell us exactly where you tank is, how deep it is and where to dig.
